According to the survey, 59% of respondents prefer to have a human instructor, either in-person or virtual, direct their workforce learning, while only 7% prefer AI-directed learning. In addition, 87% of respondents want L&D content to be developed by a subject matter expert rather than AI technology.
The survey respondents say they are open to using AI to enhance L&D efforts, they still want humans to be responsible for creating, planning, and directing the activities. The survey also reveals that nearly one-third of workplaces are actively using AI, with operations, marketing and sales, and product or service development being the most common departments for AI use. Budget constraints are identified as the biggest barrier to wider AI utilization. However, L&D professionals are optimistic about the benefits of AI for administrative tasks because it can increase efficiency. The survey was conducted among 3,000 professionals in North America from various industries.
