Samsung has introduced its first mobile “system-on-chip” using a state-of-the-art 3nm process technology with gate-all-around transistors, designed with AI-powered EDA tools from Synopsys. Synopsys’ AI toolkit, known as Synopsys.ai, includes three core AI wizards that handle tasks such as chip design, functional verification, and silicon testing by using machine learning algorithms to streamline the SoC design process. Samsung’s results are a 300MHz increase in peak CPU frequencies and a 10 percent reduction in power consumption. This marks Samsung’s first complex design iteration using a 3nm GAAFET manufacturing technology. Samsung will use this technology for premium mobile devices with the potential of accelerating those GAAFET yields even further for future Exynos processors.
